In Romans 12:2 we are told:
"Don't be conformed to this world
(your life before Christ, the messages of the culture)
but be transformed
(be more like Jesus)
by the renewal of your mind"
(changing the way you think)
If transformation happens by changing the way we think, how does that happen? Neurobiologists have proof that we can rewire our brain. When we consistently change our thoughts our brains adapt to take on this new way of thinking. Something that our Creator has been telling us for thousands of years.
Changing our thoughts, one at a time, is our choice. That's our part. God brings the deep inner work of making this our new normal. It is a life-long process of becoming more and more like Jesus.
The great news is that you can start seeing results rather quickly. This is the area that I support clients in. You learn to recognize your thoughts and choose if they are worth keeping or not. We implement tools and strategies to quickly separate, address and keep or replace the thoughts. Consistency is key. The truth replaces lies in our mind and our brain adapts.
How we think impacts every part of our life. As we train our minds to think according to the truth our view of ourselves, our view of others and our view of God gets aligned with truth instead of the lies that try to control us and mess up our lives. We experience the power of life in Christ.
